Safety and Health

As Malaysia's leading infrastructure Group, we pledge to provide a safe and healthy work environment to our employees and all parties that deal with us in our day-to-day business operations.

With a mission to inculcate a high level of awareness on Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) requisites in Gamuda Group's work culture, one of the first steps we took was to acquire the internationally-benchmarked OHSAS 18001:2007 and MS1722:2005 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems certification..

We believe that incidents are preventable and we are fully dedicated to take all necessary measures to ensure that appropriate resources and attention are directed to develop, operate and maintain the OHS Management System and to comply with the relevant OHS legislation requirements.

People are our greatest asset, therefore, providing them with a conducive and functional workplace is our utmost priority. Our processes ensure that safety and health is everyone’s responsibility and employees are actively involved in Safety & Health development programmes.

Underpinning the Group's Safety & Health policy, a proactive method of loss prevention has been adopted within each unit and division of the Group's operations.

Our Safety & Health work culture is sustained based on:

  • The acceptance of individual responsibility and accountability for the Group’s OHS performance
  • The participation and involvement of employees at all levels in the effective deployment of the Group’s OHS Management System
  • The continuous improvement and commitment to an effective OHS Management System

Environment

We are firmly rooted to the idea that environmental excellence and social responsibility play a key role in our long-term success. Our persistent commitment to drive environmental sustainability in all the Group’s operations resulted in us acquiring the ISO 14001:2004 certification, a recognition of our Environmental Management System best practices.

Our eco-friendly approach pervades all aspects of our business operations, as we constantly strive to advance the environmental-friendly measures undertaken at all our local and overseas projects.

The thrusts of our environmental conservation and preservation blueprint include:

  • The prevention, minimisation and mitigation of environmental pollution of all kinds
  • Waste minimisation
  • An efficient use of natural resources

At Gamuda, we believe our uncompromising standards and processes in safeguarding the integrity of our environment will be one of our main differentiating factors, moving forward.
